One of the marina ducks had a fish hook stuck in the side of his bill last Spring - Larry Sowle - USA
The club Boy Scouts managed to trap him and got the hook out. I didn't know how long it had been since the drake had last been able to eat but had some Cheerios in the truck. Feeding them has become a regular part of my derigging routine, as the pair now seem to recognize the Weta as a source of good eats.

A couple of buddies enjoying a midwinter sail on Lake Travis, in Austin TX - Felipe Payet - USA

A couple of buddies enjoying a midwinter sail on Lake Travis, in Austin TX. And by midwinter of course I mean water temp of 55 deg.F, and air temps around 70 deg.F. Life does not suck!

Max speed on this day, with winds gusting to the high teens, was 14.4 for a 5 second burst, as per our Velocitek. Not bad for a little WETA hauling more than 200 kilos of MAMIN (that's Middle Aged Men in Neoprene...)

Oh, how I love this boat. :-)

This picture was taken on Playa El Coyote which is in Bahia Conception in the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is a great place to sail and there is almost always wind (and whitecaps) in the afternoon during the winter months.

Weta Trimaran having it's first major outing - Robert Blackburn - Australia

This video is about a group of teenage girls having their first day on the family's new Weta at Lake Cootharaba in Qld, Australia. As the father taking the videos it was great as it vindicated my choice of the boat over some of the other multihulls on the market. The boat can be powered up or pretty much totally depowered and the smiles tell the story. You can watch the kids have fun, confident you don't need to have a rubber duck following them.

We love it.

I have had many adrenalin pumping moments, sailing my Weta in high winds, and racing in the one-design fleet, but for me this is what it is all about. Look at that smile on my son's face! (Picture taken by my wife, Laura Stephens).

Sept. of 2009. I had owned my WETA, #147 for less than two months. The weekend was coming and I planned to go out to Santa Cruz Island to surf with my two long time friends, Bill and Rob, on Bill's 30' MotorCat. But, Saturday morning dawned with gale warnings in the Santa Barbara channel. Prudently, we opted not to attempt the crossing in those conditions. Perhaps not so prudently, I asked Bill and Rob if they would take the MotorCat out to photo me sailing the WETA instead. I wanted to see if I had as much testosterone as the SF boys while having a chase boat available. Mostly I stayed behind the breakwater at Channel Islands Harbor. I did venture outside a few times, but the last time I did I almost got pitched off the back of the boat. Bill took several photos. Another Weta owner I shared them with posted them on Sailing Anarchy and created a lot of interest for a short time.

This is my favorite photo, although just barely. It is photo number 11 in the Bob "don't call me..." Shirley folder on the Yahoo group site. The first 11 photos in the album were all taken that day. I like it because I have the boat perfectly trimmed in over 25 knots of wind and it is smoking! In the background one can see white water pouring over the breakwater indicating how strong the wind is. I still might not be as ballsy as the SF boys, but this day was a real confidence booster.
